TerraSkin Stone Paper
Made without water or bleach
No tree pulp; mineral powder and resin

What it is and what it suits
TerraSkin is a stone paper made mostly from calcium carbonate, a mineral powder, bound with a small amount of resin. It contains no tree pulp, and it is manufactured without water or bleach. The sheet is smooth, bright, waterproof and tear resistant.
We have printed on TerraSkin for years, including a presentation folder for the office of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Today it is mainly the stock for our waterproof stickers and labels.
What we print on TerraSkin
- Stickers that need to survive water, condensation or time outdoors
- Product labels for bottles, jars and containers that are chilled or washed
When to choose stone paper
Stone paper is worth choosing when a piece has to handle water, grease or heavy handling, and especially when the alternative is a paper sheet with a plastic laminate. It is not the best choice for a brochure, card or letter that will be read and then recycled.
Limits to know
- It is not accepted in paper recycling in most programs, because it contains no wood fiber.
- It does not compost the way uncoated paper does.
- It is heavier than paper of the same thickness.
- It is sensitive to heat, so it is not suited to some laser printers and heat based finishes.
Our guide to stone paper explains how it is made and how it compares with recycled paper.
Is TerraSkin waterproof?
Yes. TerraSkin does not soften or fall apart when it gets wet, which is why we use it for waterproof stickers and labels.
