A few choices make a real difference.
- Print on 100% post-consumer recycled cover stock.
- Skip plastic lamination, which makes a tag harder to recycle.
- Use natural string, such as hemp, in place of plastic fasteners or synthetic cord.
A tag does not need a plastic coating to feel substantial. Greg once made hang tags for the organic line of Diesel Jeans from two sheets of 100# post-consumer recycled cover glued to 26pt stock, finished with hemp string. The result was a thick, durable tag with no laminate.
